Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to our most common questions about treatments and what to expect.

Common Questions

Can my entire family see you?

Absolutely! We welcome patients of all ages, from young children to seniors. We can discuss scheduling preferences that work best for your whole family. We look forward to being your family’s dental home.

Do tooth-colored fillings look natural?

Yes. Custom-blended composite resins are matched to your tooth’s color and bonded directly to the tooth structure, creating fillings that are nearly indistinguishable from your natural teeth. Most patients find them aesthetically superior to older silver amalgam fillings.

Why is a root canal necessary?

A root canal is necessary when the pulp inside your tooth becomes infected or inflamed due to deep decay, repeated procedures, a crack, or injury. Root canal therapy removes the infection, relieves pain, and allows you to keep your natural tooth — which is always our preference over extraction.

What should I do about a fractured tooth?

A fractured tooth requires prompt attention. Continued chewing pressure can prevent healing. Treatment depends on the crack’s location — small fractures may need a crown, cracks below the gum line may require root canal therapy, and severely damaged teeth may need extraction followed by a dental implant.

What are the advantages of dental implants?

Dental implants offer a natural appearance, biocompatible titanium construction, superior security and stability, prevention of jawbone loss, and exceptional longevity. With proper care, implants can last a lifetime — making them the gold standard for tooth replacement.

What cosmetic options are available?

We offer veneers, porcelain crowns, dental bonding with tooth-colored composite, professional whitening, and clear aligner orthodontics. All cosmetic work at Karis Family Dental prioritizes both health and aesthetics so your results look great and last.

Do you accept dental insurance?

Yes. We accept all major dental PPO plans and file claims on behalf of our patients. Because coverage varies across insurance plans, we recommend calling our office for a cost estimate before your appointment. Please bring your insurance card to your visit.

Do you offer Saturday appointments?

Yes! We are open Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. We also offer morning and early evening appointments Tuesday through Friday to accommodate busy schedules.
